Custom Made

In March 2024 we were invited to take on a shop unit in Custom House to transform it into a space for community benefit, a place where people can grow relationships, skills and experience in running activities or selling their products. Named in conjunction with resident feedback this space is called Custom Made, a space for celebrating all things local. The space will be programmed by local people in a peer to peer approach where people are paid to facilitate activities and through spending money locally we build capacity and resilience within the community. Custom Made sits within the context of a wider regeneration programme where new homes and commercial spaces will be created so while the space will also be physically transformed over the 2 years of this project the intention is to show what is possible with a new type of community space and generate community capactity to take them on as spaces are formalised in the forthcoming Masterplan. The physical transformation will include vibrant new window vinyls, separating the space into a shop front and workshop space and creating a flexible workshop space.
