Knights Walk Estate
March 2016 - December 2018
We led the resident engagement for the partial redevelopment of a 33-home estate. This involved the demolition of 18 low-rise homes, with surrounding properties retained, and the provision of up to 64 additional homes (a total of 82 new homes), including an initial infill approach. Catherine devised and led the engagement strategy to ensure residents were informed, involved, and had influence over the design and redevelopment of their estate.

About the project
We led the resident engagement for the partial redevelopment of a 33-home estate. This involved the demolition of 18 low-rise homes, with surrounding properties retained, and the provision of up to 64 additional homes (a total of 82 new homes), including an initial infill approach. Catherine devised and led the engagement strategy to ensure residents were informed, involved, and had influence over the design and redevelopment of their estate.
A feedback loop was established early on using a website, mailing list, and newspaper to share information and findings regularly, giving residents opportunities to confirm if their feedback was accurately reflected and to provide additional comments. Activities such as meetings, study trips, and exhibitions allowed residents to have as much influence as possible on the changes to their homes.
Central to the approach was a beautifully designed and well-attended engagement hub, featuring a community garden where residents could access information and activities in both formal and informal settings. This hub created meaningful project and social value by embedding improved relationships and new opportunities for socialising within the community.
