About the project

make:good was commissioned by the Canal & River Trust to undertake a programme of engagement and participatory activities to produce a series of core designs for these four sites, reflecting people’s priorities, ideas and aspirations for the future of the canal. Through a series of engagement opportunities, make:good have spoken to over 200 people and over 20 specific organisations, groups and key stakeholders in order to generate conversations and develop initial collaborative designs using the bicentenary as a catalyst for change for local people in their local areas. Through the designs of the these selected four sites, we will tell the story of the history and heritage of Regent’s Canal, encouraging people to visit not only the individual site but as a route for seeing new areas of London and experiencing the canal. Generating these designs and priorities in a community-led way through pop-ups, tagging on to events, co-design workshops and individual conversations we have set a foundation for continued involvement throughout the project and the lifespan of these sites along the Regent’s Canal. Building awareness and ownership around how these spaces can be used by local communities in the next 200 years.
