About the project
We devised and delivered an engagement programme for a reserved matters application for this key Stratford site. Key to quality engagement was developing a scope of influence so that we could direct feedback around areas that we knew people could influence given that some parameters were set within the outline planning permission.
This site is an area undergoing a lot of change and there was much excitement around the proximity to the East Bank but we needed to bring in human scale and tangible opportunities to influence ideas.
Through a set of one-to-ones, school workshops, public events and an online platform we collected insight on what type of public realm people wanted to see, ideas for creating playful features, thoughts on access and movement and ideas for ground floor uses. Conversations quickly tipped into ideas of atmosphere and 'vibe' of the area which we could then start to evoke but hosting a pop up market connected to an engagement event that celebrated and showcased local talent.
To specifically reach the incoming student population we carried out an online survey with a paid incentive and successfully reached over 200 students and gained insight on what facilities they currently used as well as not is missing from the area.
