West Ham Park

We delivered an extensive brief writing engagement programme to understand the priorities of the local communities for a piece of vacant land on the edge of West Ham Park that had previously been used as a plant nursery. Half of the site was due to be used for housing but our role was to develop a community brief for the other half of the site. This is a well used and much loved park with a diverse audience so we hosted a series of pop ups, school workshops including a SEN workshop, exhibitions, one-to-one conversations and a young designers programme for 16-18 year olds, as well as tagging on to existing activities around the park to ensure a broad reach. We checked regularly against local demographics to make sure we were receiving feedback from a representative group. We spoke to over 1000 people over 4 months and created a community brief that was endorsed via an exhibition and online survey.
